I still find it very difficult when deaf people try to talk to me. Please, use sign language instead of your voice.. it takes a while for me to understand, but please be patient with me, I’m trying. If you talk with your voice, I have to focus on your voice. If you talk with your hands, I have to focus on your hands. For me to focus on your voice AND your hands? Especially people who are born deaf or were deaf from an early age.. your voice is already harder to understand, so when you do two things at the same time, I get confused. I think it’s very sweet that you try to please me by speaking, but please, don’t. Because I can’t understand you then. And besides, I didn’t choose this study for nothing! I want to speak to you in YOUR first language, I want to make it easier for YOU! You can help me by signing slowly and repeating when needed. Please be patient with me. Don’t try to rush it by trying to communicate both ways, it’s only confusing.

A year from now, I will amaze you. ;)
